14 Aug 2023 - Arrived at Bryce Zion Campground in Glendale UT

This morning we departed Nellis Air Force Base FamCamp at 0842 hrs and headed up I-15 towards our next destination.  The route took us from Nevada, to Arizona, to Utah, back to Arizona then back to Utah!

As in journey's past, the scenery changed as we traveled which makes our travels so interesting.

We stopped on Hwy 9 near Hurricane UT,  and then again in Fredonia AZ.  The closer we got to Fredonia the closer we got to the apparent downpour in the distance.

At Fredonia we met the downpour as we were getting fuel!  It was still a nice break and glad we were able to fuel up before we head out tomorrow to explore Bryce Canyon National Park.

At 1422 hrs, 223 miles after we left Las Vegas,  we rolled into Bryce Zion Campground.  Eleven years ago this campground was a KOA, and that is obvious from the shape of the building and the name of the entrance road, KOA Road!

.

We checked in quickly and setup in our site.  The campground is nearly empty, except for a few on our row.

There is some great scenery with the horse pasture right behind us and the mountains surrounding us.  We got our first look at "hoodoo's" in the distance, which are columns or pinnacles of weathered rocks, "a towering sandstone hoodoo", or a tall, thin spire of rock formed by erosion!   Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah is famous for having the largest collection of hoodoos in the world!

Our horse pasture is right behind our coach, and the horses like to come up to you and check you out.  They are likely looking for apples or carrots!

The temperature's are cooler here and we enjoyed 70's this evening.  We grilled a couple burgers, some onions and tater tots, eating outside which is something we have not done in a while. Afterwards we had a great walk with Liberty and she loves to interact with the horses.  Tomorrow we will drive to Bryce Canyon National Park and explore it.
