This morning at 0746 hrs we departed the Grand Canyon and set the GPS todays Las Vegas and our next destination which is the Desert Eagle FamCamp at Nellis Air Force Base Las Vegas NV. We headed south on AZ 64 until we got to Williams when we merged onto I-40 west.
We both commented on how the scenery changed along the way.
116 miles on I-40 we stopped for a quick break and then we turned north on US 93 . 118 miles later, in the middle of the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge over the Colorado River we transitioned into Nevada.
I was focused on the road construction and traffic but Doreen took a couple pictures of Lake Meade. We will be back to see this first-hand.
At 1315 hrs we arrived at Nellis AFB, stop #33 on our 2023 tour. We turned into Desert Eagle FamCamp. 107 degrees F when we rolled in. We were checked in quickly and escorted to out camp site, which is in the 'wagon wheel' area that has some shade trees and nice spacing between sites.
Later in the afternoon the temperature peaked at 108F, but the air conditioners kept our coach at a comfortable 82F insode. That sound warm, but realizing the normal performance of air conditioners is an offset of about 20 degrees. They are doing very well.
Patio and picnic table
We have yet to plan out stay here, but Wednesday we have tickets to the Hoover Dam tour. Tomorrow we need to visit the commissary and restock our pantry.
