2 Apr 2023 - Last Day at Lawrence KS

Our dining table with placemats, flowers and succulent pots
were anniversary gifts from our children

Absolutely gorgeous today here at Lawrence KS.  It was chilly at 38F this morning but it warmed to 79F and the skies were clear and sunny.  We slept in a bit and then ventured out into town to refuel the big ol' brown truck.  We were pleasantly surprised to find a Casey's convenience store here where we were able to use $0.76 Doreen had accumulated in HyVee grocery store fuel discounts.  That is only applicable to the first 20 gallons of diesel but it dropped the price from $3.749 to $2.989/gallon.  Had we not used it that discount would have expired.  Just down the street from the Casey's was a car wash so the big ol' brown truck got a bath before heading back to the campground.

This afternoon we watched the Iowa Hawkeye's girls basketball team play LSU for the national championship.  We set up outside to enjoy the beautiful weather, but as the sun continued down it made the screen hard to see.  So for the second half we moved inside.  LSU's offense was incredible and Iowa fell short losing the game, but we are surely proud of these young ladies and their great season.

Later in the afternoon we met another couple that has an Alliance fifth wheel here, same model as ours.  Dennis and Vickie Bragg are from Michigan's upper peninsula just a few miles from one of our stops this summer.  We looked at some of the enhancements and modifications we had each done to our coaches and talked about our travel experiences.  It is always nice meeting other Alliance owners.  We call them FamAlly!

Tomorrow we will pull chocks and head 161 miles down the Kansas Turnpike to Wichita and McConnell Air Force Base for our next stop.
