9 Apr 2023 - Easter Sunday - Arrived at the Dallas-Arlington TX KOA

We pulled chocks this morning on a sunny Easter Sunday in Oklahoma City and headed southbound on I-35 towards Texas and stop# 5 on this journey.  Even on a Sunday the traffic was a bit crazy, well actually it was the drivers that were a bit crazy.  We had a close call not 5 miles from our start where a guy pulled directly in front of us on the approach to an exit ramp, immediately put on his 4-ways and then slammed on his brakes.  Other than that and some very rough roads, the trip was uneventful.   The traffic picked up as we entered the Dallas Fort Worth area but it was not as bad as we had anticipated.  The 228 mile trip took us right at 4 hrs 20 minutes with three stops.

This is a unique KOA, buried in the middle of a metropolitan area half way between Dallas and Fort Worth. It looks like it has been here for a long time and it's pretty big.  We have a standard pull-through site with no neighbors on one side, which is nice. It is a bit tight, but well long enough for our 310 and our truck.  The location in the metro area is a bonus for us, especially with Liberty.  We will be able to head out from here and see whatever we want to.

When planning this trip, I partially chose this campground due to it's proximity to the Texas Rangers baseball field, called Globe Life Field.  We are just 5-1/2 miles from it here.  This is one of just six major league baseball ballparks we have left to visit.  The others include Toronto, Detroit, Chicago White Sox and the two Los Angeles teams.  We have tickets for tomorrow's (Monday night) baseball game vs the Kansas City Royals at 7pm.

We have been fortunate so far with no "casualties" except the rougher roads today.  The bedroom door latch was ripped out of the wall, which is an easy fix.  The screws were not mounted into a stud, so it was a matter of time before this happened.  The good news is all four screws are accounted for.  Loose screws roaming around in the coach are never a good thing.  They tend to get under the slide-out skis or rollers and rip up the vinyl flooring.

So tomorrow we will stop at the office and pay our bill since they closed early today before we arrived for Easter.  We will also find fuel and an H-E-B to restock supplies a bit. Back here we will come up with a gameplan for the rest of the week and later we will attend the baseball game and mark another one off of the MLB Ballpark Passport.
