A couple hours of below freezing temperatures early this morning resulted in a frozen water supply to our coach. Luckily it froze outside the coach and not the pipes or control panel within. As I troubleshot the problem it became apparent how this happened. The hydrant where we connect our drinking water hose has a heater surrounding it. The heater had been unplugged by a previous camper. As I tried to reconnect it I saw why it was unplugged. The design of the pedestal prevents the heater from being plugged in at the same time the coach is plugged in.
I ran a cord from my coach to power the heater and eventually we had water again. Early tomorrow morning we have freezing temperatures predicted again, but I flushed and dumped all of our tanks today in preparation for our departure tomorrow, and we are operating from our onboard fresh water tank, so we are completely disconnected from the hydrant.
After clearing the water issue we had breakfast and then headed into town to do some shopping and to pick up our Kansas non-resident annual state park pass. We will be camping at Sand Hills State Park near Hutchinson KS on our return trip, and this annual pass will save us some money rather than paying the per-day fee.
Back at the campground Doreen and I gave the coach a bath and then we worked on our typical day-before-departure checklist. As mentioned before, I flushed and dumped the sewer tanks and uploaded 1/3 tank of drinking water in the fresh tank. I typically stow the sewer and drinking water hoses the day before so I don't have to mess with it the morning of departure. Inside Doreen typically stows any loose decorative items and anything else that we don't need to use before we leave. She also did some laundry which was very convenient here since the laundry building is just across the road from our camp site.
The wind finally subsided, the weather cleared and it warmed up nicely today with a high of 54F. Later, John Kimball and Jane stopped out to have a look at our Alliance Paradigm 310RL, have a cold beverage and talk about camping. They are headed out on an amazing trip to the New England area later this summer with their camper and it should be a great trip.
That is pretty much it for today. Tomorrow we head 175 mile south to the Oklahoma City area and Mustang Run RV Park, stop# 4 out of 42 for this years adventures. Check-in is not before 1300 hrs, so we have plenty of time for a reasonable departure time and to enjoy the drive. Hopefully the wind will behave itself!
Thanks for checking in on us!
