7 May 2023 - Last Day at Jamaica Beach RV Resort

Ironic, we have been here at Jamaica Beach RV Resort in Jamaica Beach TX since last Sunday and today is the first day we have actually made it to the beach!  The Gulf was a bit angry with rip tide warnings, but there were still some swimming in the Gulf.

The sights and sounds from crashing waves is so awesome!

Ripples in the sand are mesmerizing!

We did not venture into the water but enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the shore.  Doreen was looking for the elusive sea shells and only found a few small ones.

So that was our late afternoon, but earlier in the morning, we gathered at the pavilion to fold up the tables and chairs we had been using all week, and tear everything else down.  As it normally goes with FamAlly volunteers, the meeting time was 1000 hrs and by 0945 hrs we were all done LOL.  Then it turned into saying goodbyes to our friends as many were hitting the road today. Work was still being done on the RV's and people were packing their stuff away in preparation for departure.  As the day went on the campground thinned out but there were still quite a few Alliance RV's here.

When we were done Doreen and I returned to our coach because both of our Ankeny grandsons had baseball tournaments this weekend and the games were streamed.  So between the iPhone and iPad,  and casting to our 50" HDTV we were able to watch either live video/audio feed or the scorekeeper digitized version.

Later we started making preparations to depart in the morning, including fueling the truck, flushing the tanks, stowing the various hoses and putting things away inside.  With the Texas Rally behind us, we will shift gears back into the tourist mode starting with our next stop, which is west of Lafayette LA.  We will only be there for a couple nights, but while there we will drive down to Avery Island and visit the Tabasco Sauce Factory!

Well, to wrap it up here, the Texas Alliance Rally has been fantastic.  We met a lot of new friends, reconnected with a lot of old friends, ate a lot of great food, learned a lot and had a lot of laughs!  We have to throw a shout out to Charles and Leslie Tyer, Mark and Angie Page, and everyone else who planned and coordinated this event.  Thank you so much!

Next report from Frog City RV Park in Duson LA!
