10 Jun 2023 - Arrived at Bailey's Grove Campground near Bailey's Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin

We took our time departing the Pictured Rock RV Park in the Upper Peninsula this morning.  Check-in time at our next location was not until 1400 hrs (Central)  and we had a time change, from Eastern Daylight Time back to Central Daylight Time.  So we departed at 0950 hrs (Eastern) and headed south.  This is a beautiful drive down from the U.P. into Wisconsin.  Off to our left was Lake Michigan, but visibility across the lake was not all that great today.

We passed many familiar sights through Escanaba and down to Menominee and crossing the Menominee River into Marinette we were welcomed into Wisconsin.  WE stopped a couple times, once at a cheese shop and picked up some fresh curds!

In years past we would head west out of Marinette towards Antigo and fish with our Air Force friends Greg and Diane Noskowiak, but late last year they moved from Antigo back to northern Maine!  So this year we are diverting to Door County Wisconsin.

We skirted Green Bay WI with Green Bay, the body of water, off to our left.  We then headed up Door County passing over the Sturgeon Bay ship canal draw bridge.

From there we continued on up Door County to Bailey's Harbor, our home for the next five nights.  This is stop #20 of 42 on this year's journey.  Door County is on a peninsula between Green Bay and Lake Michigan.  It’s known for its long shoreline, parks,  lighthouses, picturesque coastal towns, specialty shops, fish boils, cherry and apple orchards, and scenic beauty. It's often referred to as the “Cape Cod of the Midwest”.

The town of Bailey's Harbor was very busy with tourists parked on both sides of the road.  It was a little tight with our 101 inch wide RV but we made our way through and landed at the Bailey's Grove Campground at 1447 hrs, almost five hours and 242 miles after departing this morning.

We parked and went into the office to register where we were greeted by Rhonda who we spoke with when we made our reservations. She was very friendly and helpful and as we were leaving we were greeted by Jana Zavishlak.  I glanced out the door that there was another Alliance Paradigm right behind ours!  Jana and her husband Kurt are from Texas and drove up from the Alliance Rally we attended.  They are here for a few nights also!  I spoke with Kurt there in Goshen at the Rally!  Small world.

Park staff escorted us to our site which is awesome!  We have a large "yard" on each side of our coach along with a fire ring and picnic table.  Rhonda said this is one of the two most requested sites they have.  No neighbors to the rear.  No neighbors to the right side and good spacing to the neighbors on our left side.

Tonight we went for a walk and stopped to talk with Kurt and Jana.  Kurt is a retired police officer from Texas and they are enjoying their travels with their Alliance coach.

A unique lighthouse carving into a stump!

So we are here for five nights with no firm plans.  We have visited Door County before.  We will likely head to Washington Island via the ferry as we did before and enjoyed.  There is a maritime museum in Ellison Bay we have not seen and revisiting lighthouses is always enjoyable.  Tuesday there is a farmer's market in Bailey's Harbor.  We may just head to the shore and enjoy the view!  This life does not suck!
